Writing is a very important discipline. Through writing you can tell a story it can be fiction or non-fiction. But writing is a thing I would encourage teens to do more. Everyone has a story to tell why not tell yours. Who knows maybe you will write a classic. I bet C.S. Lewis did not think his writing was perfect when he first wrote, but any way he tried. To master the art of writing you must be persistent and willing to work long- hours editing and writing that is if you want to write a book. Authors do not just wake up with a marvelous idea that easily slides onto paper. They spend time writing and editing. This past year I wrote a Novella and have began the editing process(this is the longest part). (If you want a short story or essay you have written to be published. If it is approved by me. I will publish on my blog. Just email it to me.)
I also think that reading makes a good writer. All writers read a lot. Reading enriches your mind. I challenge you to read as much as you can. I dare you to read at-least 20 chapter books this year. Reading is a great thing to pursue. Avid readers think a lot and tend to have a wide vocabulary, so read. I encourage you to read. It is very important and this is coming from a fellow teen.
Here are some quotes about reading and writing.
A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read.
