MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!! The True Meaning of Christmas

Since Christmas is all about Christ's birth. Through the Bible I will tell you the story of his birth. I got these from the books of Matthew 1,2 Luke 1,2.

In the sixth month after Elizabeth had become pregnant, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee. 27 He was sent to a virgin. The girl was engaged to a man named Joseph. He came from the family line of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel greeted her and said, “The Lord has given you special favor. He is with you.”
29 Mary was very upset because of his words. She wondered what kind of greeting this could be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary. God is very pleased with you. 31 You will become pregnant and give birth to a son. You must name him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High God. The Lord God will make him a king like his father David of long ago. 33 He will rule forever over his people, who came from Jacob’s family. His kingdom will never end.”
34 “How can this happen?” Mary asked the angel. “I am a virgin.”
35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come to you. The power of the Most High God will cover you. So the holy one that is born will be called the Son of God. 36 Your relative Elizabeth is old. And even she is going to have a child. People thought she could not have children. But she has been pregnant for six months now. 37 Nothing is impossible with God.”
38 “I serve the Lord,” Mary answered. “May it happen to me just as you said it would.” Then the angel left her.
19 Her husband Joseph was a godly man. He did not want to put her to shame in public. So he planned to divorce her quietly.
20 But as Joseph was thinking about this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. The angel said, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take Mary home as your wife. The baby inside her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She is going to have a son. You must give him the name Jesus. That is because he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All of this took place to bring about what the Lord had said would happen. He had said through the prophet, 23 “The virgin is going to have a baby. She will give birth to a son. And he will be called Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7:14) The name Immanuel means “God with us.”
24 Joseph woke up. He did what the angel of the Lord commanded him to do. He took Mary home as his wife. 25And Joseph gave him the name Jesus.
In those days, Caesar Augustus made a law. It required that a list be made of everyone in the whole Roman world. It was the first time a list was made of the people while Quirinius was governor of Syria. All went to their own towns to be listed.
So Joseph went also. He went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea. That is where Bethlehem, the town of David, was. Joseph went there because he belonged to the family line of David. He went there with Mary to be listed. Mary was engaged to him. She was expecting a baby.
While Joseph and Mary were there, the time came for the child to be born. She gave birth to her first baby. It was a boy. She wrapped him in large strips of cloth. Then she placed him in a manger. There was no room for them in the innThere were shepherds living out in the fields nearby. It was night, and they were looking after their sheep. An angel of the Lord appeared to them. And the glory of the Lord shone around them. They were terrified.
10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy. It is for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord. 12 Here is how you will know I am telling you the truth. You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a large group of angels from heaven also appeared. They were praising God. They said,
14 “May glory be given to God in the highest heaven!
And may peace be given to those he is pleased with on earth!”
15 The angels left and went into heaven. Then the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem. Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph and the baby. The baby was lying in the manger. 17 After the shepherds had seen him, they told everyone. They reported what the angel had said about this child. 18 All who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
19 But Mary kept all these things like a secret treasure in her heart. She thought about them over and over.
20 The shepherds returned. They gave glory and praise to God. Everything they had seen and heard was just as they had been told.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea. This happened while Herod was king of Judea.
21 When the child was eight days old, he was circumcised. At the same time he was named Jesus. This was the name the angel had given him before his mother became pregnant.
22 The time for making them pure came as it is written in the Law of Moses. So Joseph and Mary took Jesus to Jerusalem. There they presented him to the Lord. 23 In the Law of the Lord it says, “The first boy born in every family must be set apart for the Lord.” (Exodus 13:2,12) 24 They also offered a sacrifice. They did it in keeping with the Law, which says, “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.” (Leviticus 12:8)
25 In Jerusalem there was a man named Simeon. He was a good and godly man. He was waiting for God’s promise to Israel to happen. The Holy Spirit was with him. 26 The Spirit had told Simeon that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27 The Spirit led him into the temple courtyard.
Then Jesus’ parents brought the child in. They came to do for him what the Law required.
28 Simeon took Jesus in his arms and praised God. He said,
29 “Lord, you are the King over all.
Now let me, your servant, go in peace.
    That is what you promised.
30 My eyes have seen your salvation.
31     You have prepared it in the sight of all people.
32 It is a light to be given to those who aren’t Jews.
It will bring glory to your people Israel.”
33 The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him.34 Then Simeon blessed them. He said to Mary, Jesus’ mother, “This child is going to cause many people in Israel to fall and to rise. God has sent him. But many will speak against him. 35 The thoughts of many hearts will be known. A sword will wound your own soul too.”
36 There was also a prophet named Anna. She was the daughter of Penuel from the tribe of Asher. Anna was very old. After getting married, she lived with her husband seven years. 37 Then she was a widow until she was 84. She never left the temple. She worshiped night and day, praying and going without eating.
38 Anna came up to Jesus’ family at that very moment. She gave thanks to God. And she spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the time when Jerusalem would be set free.

39 Joseph and Mary did everything the Law of the Lord required. Then they returned to Galilee. They went to their own town of Nazareth. 40 And the child grew and became strong. He was very wise. He was blessed by God’s grace.
After Jesus’ birth, Wise Men from the east came to Jerusalem. They asked, “Where is the child who has been born to be king of the Jews? When we were in the east, we saw his star. Now we have come to worship him.”
When King Herod heard about it, he was very upset. Everyone in Jerusalem was troubled too. So Herod called together all the chief priests of the people. He also called the teachers of the law. He asked them where the Christ was going to be born.
“In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied. “This is what the prophet has written. He said,
“‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
are certainly not the least important among the towns of Judah.
A ruler will come out of you.
He will be the shepherd of my people Israel.’” (Micah 5:2)
Then Herod called for the Wise Men secretly. He found out from them exactly when the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem. He said, “Go! Make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, bring me a report. Then I can go and worship him too.”
After the Wise Men had listened to the king, they went on their way. The star they had seen when they were in the east went ahead of them. It finally stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were filled with joy.
11 The Wise Men went to the house. There they saw the child with his mother Mary. They bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures. They gave him gold, incense and myrrh.
12 But God warned them in a dream not to go back to Herod. So they returned to their country on a different road.

Police Brutality

Recently, in the news we have been hearing a lot about Police brutality. This year some African-Americans have been murdered. The officers committing the crimes have not been indited. This shows other people that police brutality against African-Americans and all Americans is okay. This incidents show that if a officer commits a crime and kills someone they will not be held accountable for it. What do you think?

I think we should protest. This is wrong. We need to do something. I want the world to know that United States of America is not a country that condones the death of the innocent.  We can't let people forget. Their lives must not be lost in vain.

"Our lives begin to end the day we become quiet about things that matter," Martin Luther King Jr.

Tomorrow Write don't shoot  or I can't breath on your arm, hand, or forehead. I am going to do it.

The Police Officer who Murdered Michael Brown has NOT been Indited.

Officer Wilson killed an innocent teen, Michael Brown. Justice was not served today. I believe he should have been indited. The Jury did not make the correct decision. Many people a protesting this. In Chicago, large groups are walking peacefully through the streets demanding Justice for Michael Brown. In Ferguson , Missouri, the crowds have began to riot. Some people are even setting things on fire. People are irate about this injustice. I do not think that violence is the answer though. But I do believe that peaceful protesting is good. As Americans we have a right to protest. We have a right to stand up for what believe in. I believe that this act of violence against Michael Brown was inherently wrong. This officer deserves to be punished for his actions. Even people who kill others by accident are punished for reckless man slaughter. I want to know what you think. What do you think?

Why I love reading and writing?

I have been reading ever since I was 4. I always wanted to read. When I was 3 I would pretend to read books and write cursive. I was very enthused when my mother taught me how to read my first year of homeschooling. The book I learned how to read from was Sally, Dick, and Jane. I remember reading and rereading that book.  I would become so jubilant when I finished it  in only one day. As I grew older I began reading larger books. I read everything from biographies to the Boxcar Children.  My favorite childhood authors were Frances Hodges Burnett and Gertrude Chandler Warner. When I was younger I occasionally wrote short stories and poems.  I really fell in love with writing last year in 8th grade when I wrote my first novella. Ever since then you could say I have been addicted to writing. I have so many beautiful ideas I want to share them with the world and isn’ t that basically what reading and writing are sharing stories. But why do I love reading and writing so much? What is so good about good book? How can reading and writing open your eyes? What messages or morals are authors trying to share? Let’s discover why I love reading. And why reading and writing is imperative
A book, it is paper, a binding, pictures, and words. What makes up a lovely enchanting read I think the four basic things for a rad read and wonderful writing are perspective, writing style, vocabulary, and storyline . There are several aspects to perspective. Perspective can be person like 1st 2nd 3rd person, although 2nd person is rarely utilized. There also the way the world is thought about through the author’s characters. You can learn a lot about an author by just reading their books. Authors are usually readers before they were authors. So usually there writing style is a unique combination of their favorite authors and their own unique spin. Some people have a more serious writing style. Others have an out of the box writing style. Still others have a hilarious sarcastic writing style.  Some even have a poetic writing style. The way an author uses his or her words can evoke emotions sadness, happiness, imagination, thoughtfulness and so much more. They do this through the storyline also. Many books have multiple storylines. They have a major storyline and minor storylines. These can include internal or external conflict. Internal conflict is a fight within for example The Scarlet Letter and Johnny Tremain.  External conflict is like a fight with a villain for example The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. A villain does not have to be a person it can be a thing like poverty or war. All of these aspects make up lovely read. When I am writing these are things I begin think about before I start a project.  But as you write you will get sudden inspiration and no amount of prep can help get that. Some of my most beautiful writing has been spontaneous. Writing a book is much more than just putting words on paper. It is an art.
Would you like to travel with me to a secret island? You can in a book. I can go anywhere in a book. Books are freeing. Writing is free. When write I become a totally different person. I am not me I am someone else. This also happens when I read. I have never left the country yet I have been around the world. I have been to the future to the past other countries. I have gotten to see ,feel, and experience things I never would have unless I read. Reading is exhilarating. While reading I have been fighting for my life in the Hunger Games. While reading I have been shot by the Taliban in Pakistan. While reading I have been flying in the air for years yet I was denied the right to pilots license. I have done so many things while reading. If you read, you will get amazing out of this world experiences. You will hear things that you would never hear otherwise. You will spot amazing structures that you would never see otherwise. The best part about Reading and Writing is I get to live thousand lives. I get to feel a million things. I get to laugh with the characters. I get to cry with the character. I get to run for my life with the characters. As a reader and writer, I know that when you write you are not in control of the characters. The characters are your friends and they may surprise you. So if you want to travel to that island open a book.
Messages, we hear messages all around us. But some of the most important ones are in works of creative amazing literature. Stories like The Giver, Flygirl, I am Malala, To Kill a Mocking Bird, and The Narrative of Fredrick Douglass. They all have a messages to share. The messages are sometimes more abstract and you have to think about. They can also be simple and blunt. They can be clandestine and thoughtful. Out of the titles about I would say To Kill A Mocking Bird and The Giver have more clandestine and provocative messages.
When you write you can share a message to. The words from a pen can inspire. One of my favorite sayings is the pen is mightier than the sword. This holds true. God’s own very word was written with the pen and yet it is mightier than any two edged-sword.  With our pens and paper we can change the world for God. We can share a message of God’s love that might not have been told if it weren’t for that story. Books have messages. Writing is to share a message. I think the writing and reading are one of the two most powerful things in the world. God knew this that why he put his words on paper because he knows one book his book can and did change the world. It gave the message of salvation.

What do you concure from all this? I hope I have relayed to you in enough detail that I am thoroughly in love with reading and writing. I think that books are powerful. Books have different facets that make them great books. Books are also wonderful because they can transport you through space and time. You can be a million people.   I also love books because of the messages you get from them. If you do not like to read maybe if you find a really good book that you love you will change your mind and realize that reading is really fun, and writing is also.  If everyone wrote a little more and read a little more I think that the world would become even more connected. So the next time you go to the Library or book store Get A book and READ. Because reading is a powerful thing.

More cases of Ebola.

Sadly, there are more cases of Ebola here in America. A nurse taking care of a patient in Texas caught this terrible disease.  Her name is Nina Pham. She caught this from taking care of Eric Duncan. Tragically, he died. Another nurse, Amber Vinson,  also caught this horrible virus. We should pray for the people in America and in Western Africa with Ebola. Let's pray that God can heal them and that God can protect the people taking care of them.
I think it was strange that it took them so long to give the experimental drug to Eric Duncan. I think that racism may have been behind. I think that was strange because the other Ebola patients received the experimental drug quickly. What do you think?

The True Meaning of Sucess

The True Meaning of Success
By:Anonymous
I believe that success isn't always winning. People who don’t constantly win can be successful.  The world’s definition of success might be having it all: money, fame, or winning a gold medal at the Olympics. But even people who win awards, have millions, and are famous don’t always feel successful and content.
I learned the true meaning of success after a speech and debate tournament. After debating, timing, and giving speeches for three days straight, my brother and I were exhausted. We were reading our ballots in the car, when we discovered we didn’t win a single debate. At first I was really depressed about it. We had worked hard. We thought we would win at least one debate. We had done hours of research and practice. I even debated quitting debate. My mother said that even if I didn’t win I learned and I did a good job.  After all the research I knew  a ton about United States of America’s voting system.
But later at one of the speech and debate meetings, one of the parents spoke about success. She said true success was learning and pleasing God with your actions. She also said that those who do win are not necessarily successful.  Success is not defined by winning or losing.  I also heard something similar from my mother and other people. This was very encouraging.

Surprisingly, I am glad that I did not win. I learned a valuable lesson about success. It is not the trophies on your mantel that indicate your success.  It is not how many zeroes you can write on a check. It is what you learned and trying your very best. I learned also that I must persevere even when I do not win. I believe success isn’t defined by trophies. It is defined by perseverance, a great attitude, and growth. This is the true meaning of success. This I believe.

Remembering 9/11

This September 11, 2014 is the anniversary of 9/11. Although  I do not remember 9/11, I know it happened. It was a dark day in our history. That day when the twin towers crashed.  It showed how evil men can become. It was  a day that we should and never forget. We must always remember. The people that were lost. The chaos of that day was magnificent. Many people were injured. We must me vigilante so that something like that will never happen again.

Teenager shot by Police Officer

Sadly,an innocent teen, Michael Brown, was shot by a police officer In Ferguson, Missouri . There is an ongoing investigation with this case. If you have recently seen the news you probably know a bit about this case. What do you think? Some believe that this was a hate crime. I think that is a hate crime seeing as the officer was white and the teenager was African-american. What do you think? Due to this many people have been protesting. Although  the protesters during the day were peaceful. Riots began at night and the police shot tear gas into the crowd. Some people in the crowd were even arrested. But the main point about this case should be the search for justice. The investigators need to get down to the truth so that there will be justice. What do you think about this case.

Khemer Rouge on trial for War Crimes and Genocide

During the 1970's in Cambodia. There was terrible loss of life. Many innocent Cambodian men, women, and children were sinisterly slaughtered. It is a said part of World history. That is not so broadly known as the holocaust. About 1.7 million innocent people were slain during this tyrannical regime wretched reign. Now these evil men are being held accountable for their wicked acts of genocide and war crimes. The saddest part about it is that the parts of the international community just watched as millions of people died. This reminds of "The only thing necessary for the  triumph of evil is that good men do nothing," Edmund Burke
In our world, we must do something about the problems we see. "A little something is always better than a lot of nothing,"  I think so.  For example, during the  holocaust saving one person was huge. If everyone had saved just one innocent Jew. Millions would be saved. I think we should not just look back and condemn what happened in the past. But we should try to change what is happening now.

Two cases of Ebola have reached the U.S.A.

Sadly, two cases of the highly contagious ebola have reached the U.S. U.S officials are worried about an out-break in the U.S. Hopefully, there is no ebola out-break in the U.S. This is a deadly disease.Once you get you must be quarantined.  Tragically, there is no known cure for this wretched ailment. The symptoms are fever, vomiting, weakness and in the advanced stages external and internal bleeding. But there is a chance of survival. Ebola. There is no known cure for this disease. It is originally from MidWest Africa. It has affected Sierra Leone and other neighboring countries.

Rockets are still being fired. Hamas won't stop!

Even after the day-long cease-fire was proposed. Israel accuses Hamas of breaking it. They say that Hamas was still firing rockets. Israel is currently on the defensive. America needs to do something to back. Israel needs help. We must try to do more than give out sanctions. We must take action against Hamas. This may mean to support Israel military wise. What do you think? Sadly, from what is going on now I am thinking that World War may be in our near future. Israel is trying to defend herself. Hamas is going against everything Israel is trying to do. When Israel has warned civilians to leave because of rocket fire, Hamas has ordered them to stay.

The Day of Rage! Will the fighting ever cease in the Middle East?

Today, has been named the day of rage. due to attacks on UN shelter.  People have been fighting all around the West Bank. Four Palestinians have been killed. People are irate about the shelling of the UN.  To me it looks like war might break out. Diplomats are trying to get Hamas to agree to a "permanent" cease-fire. For days rockets have been exchanged between Israel and Hamas. Nearly 800 people have been killed almost all of them civilians. Hopefully, they resolve on a permanent compromise. On Saturday there will be a 12-hour humanitarian cease fire. This is very good news for civilians.  What do you think about this? We should pray for the Middle East and that their problems be resolved. That God can keep Israel safe.

Poetry is a beautiful

Poetry. Poetry is a linguistic art . It is mastered by practice. I think of poetry as a painting that you make with words. I enjoy poetry. I love to hear the flourishes and pros. But why is it important.  It is important because poetry can really make you think and it has more than surface meaning. it also a beautiful thing. Beauty is not necessary for life but it makes life all the more enjoyable. Here is a poem for you to enjoy. Do you like it? What do you think it means? What are your favorite poems which ones do you like?
Dancing
I love to dance
To move as if a flowing creek
Then like a rapid river
Jazzy hands
Pirouettes, arbalests, and plies
STOP Silence stillness the music ceases
Pointed toes straight legs
You love to dance
Swifts steps robotic moves
Quick stealthily like wolves
Straight as a line
Ready to dance and shine
Portray hate Portray love
Portray sorrow Portray Joy
She loves to dance
Happy care-free times
Hopping like a chased frog
Blowing like a tree on a windy day
Straight like Oak on bright Sunday morning
Just Dance

Flood of illegal immigrant children

Recently, many central American children have been crossing the border. What should America do? Some say send them back. But lone leaving lone children to fend for themselves is just plain mean. What we are doing is caring for the children until we can get them safely back to their parents. President Obama asked for a billion dollars to care for the children and secure our borders. How will the root of the problem be solved?  I think the problem lies in the less then ideal living conditions in South American and  Central America. Many South and Central Americans struggle to get necessities that we take for granted. For example running water, a good education, and. I think until the root problems are solved we will continue to see a flood of illegal immigrants. What do you think?

Fourth of July

Today we celebrate the our nation with cooking out and fire works. We have come far from the country we started as. We have become better. We have become worse.  But we must remember the principals this country was founded on. ALL MEN (including women) ARE CREATED EQUAL. On July 2 it was the anniversary of the passing of the civil rights act. That granted African-American the right to vote. We must remember that this country's beginning was not impeccable. But we must also remember those who have better society. Our veterans. Civil rights activists. Presidents, Congressman, Abolitionists, and Suffragists. They have made our country what is today. And I truly say I am Proud to be an American. I proud to be somewhere with so  many blessed people. Thank-you to everyone who has made the USA great!

GO FOR IT! YOu have the power to change the world

What does this phrase mean? GO FOR IT! It means to chase your dreams. As teens we almost feel as if we have to be "full adults" to make a difference. GO FOR IT! I am teen and I am going to go for it. Teens can make a difference a big one too. I believe that speeches and volunteering can make waves. I let nothing hold me back. I know teens who have written novels and magazines. Teens can run and start businesses. Teens can do amazing things. I started this blog and I have written a novella. These aren't accomplishments to brag about. It is to encourage you. I never thought I could write a novella or start a blog. NEVER SAY NEVER! GO FOR IT! Change the world for God. It can be through writing a book, magazine, or blog. It can be through starting a business or charity. Even writing songs and posting then on YouTube can make a difference. Even if I just encourage one person to GO FOR IT! It is worth it. Stop sitting around letting life pass you by. Live by the seat of your pants. Everything is not going to turn out exactly how you want it. But enjoy every moment you can by making a difference and helping others.  Change the world for God. Helping others gives a lot more return than being selfish.GO FOR IT!

Meat recalled because of Mad Cow Disease possibility.

A recall on certain 4,000 pounds of beef products has occurred. These beef products were from Fruitland. American Meat. These meats were recalled because they may have been infected with Mad Cow disease also known as bovine spongiform encephalopathy. This causes Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease in humans. Sadly this is fatal disease  that affects the brain and nervous system. In animals it causes the cow to go mad thus the nickname of mad cow disease. It affects the cow nervous system. This can be caused by eating the meat of other cows that was mixed into their grain. This infects humans when humans eat the meat of cow with this deadly disease. It is rarely found in beef. There are many precautions taken so that no one suffers of this disease. So don't stop eating beef, because this rarely occurs. You are more likely to get struck by lightning.

Set Your Mind on Things Above

I have an awesome guest author: Katherine Tielking. I really want to thank her for giving me one of her amazing papers to post. Hopefully I will have more guest authors or even a permanent author in the future.
“I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.” This quote from Martin Luther contrasts two things: Earthly things, which will not last, and Heavenly blessings, which will last forever. Although worldly, physical possessions will not last, the heavenly and spiritual blessings God holds will last forever.

Earthly, physical possessions, which are things man can hold, will not last. In 1 Samuel 16:7 in the Bible it says, “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord look at the heart.” Some people would rather have material things instead of spiritual things. People would risk everything to have fame and wealth. Psalm 37:16 says, “Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked.” Wealth and fame will dissipate, but the spiritual blessings God holds will endure. People try so hard to gain wealth, fame, and other worldly things, but if they do not give their life to Christ, they will have nothing.

In contrast, the things God holds, which are heavenly and spiritual blessings, will last forever. Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” The heavenly and spiritual blessings, which are very important, will last forever. One of these heavenly blessings is eternal life. Jesus states in Matthew 19:29, “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for My sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.” Most people who are not Christians will not give up their worldly possessions. They think that what they own is more important than anything. In Luke 18:24-25, Jesus declares and proclaims, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” The spiritual and heavenly blessings God holds are by far more important than the material possessions people own.

Although worldly, physical possessions will not last, the heavenly and spiritual blessings God holds will last forever. There are two very important things that Martin Luther discusses in his quote: Earthly things will not last, and Heavenly blessings will last forever. The heavenly blessings God holds are by far more important than the worldly things here on Earth. Martin Luther’s quote sums up what should be declared by everyone. “I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.”

Remembering our persecuted Brothers and Sisters in Christ

We must not forget our persecuted friends all around the world. Many people risk their lives for the sake of the gospel. We must pray that God keeps them safe. A cool thing to do is to subscribe Friends of the Martyred Church.  Some prayer requests I received from Friends of the Martyred Church:
Mali We pray for the situation to calm down so that both Christians and Muslims could live peacefully in this nation. We also pray for the believers affected in many ways by the terror, that they would be surrounded by God’s love and peace, even though the world around them is insecure.
Sri Lanka
We pray for the believers in Bandaragama, where a group of 30 Christians were gathered for prayer on April 27th when a mob of around 30 persons led by Buddhist clergy stormed the premises they were praying in, and demanded that prayer meetings be stopped. According to reports, also the police who arrived on the scene instructed the Christians to stop the prayer meetings since there was no prior approval from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. However, according to Sri Lankan legislation, there is no legal requirement to obtain prior approval for religious worship activities.
We pray for boldness and wisdom for church leaders who are in the front-lines of persecution in Sri Lanka as Christians in Sri Lanka have been facing an increase in persecution over the past couple of years. So far this year, there have been over 40 attacks on churches and Christians in Sri Lanka.
