Thousands of Homes in Syria are Demolished

Sadly thousands of homes and business were demolished by the Syrian government. Syria is a perilous place currently. Numerous homes have been destroyed. We need to pray for the victims of the chemical attacks and other attacks that happen in the Middle East. Also Syria has only given up  less than 4% of their weapons. Syria has recently had several human rights violations. What do you think about the conflict going on in Syria? How can we make a difference?

Rhinos are being Murdered more in South Africa!

In South Africa the rate of illegal rhino killing has gone up in the past year. There has been a higher demand for Rhino horns in Asia. Around 1,000 Rhino were poached last year. The year before that it was about 600. Brutally poachers cut Rhino Horns off and leave them to die. Men should take care of God's creation and not destroy it. God gave us this world so we could take care of it. We have a duty to proctect.  We should conserve his creatures he made. What do you think? Should poaching be legalized?

Mall Shooting at a Maryland Mall

Sadly, another shooting has taken place at a mall in Maryland. Three people died including the shooter. Five others were shot. We should pray that God comforts those who have loved ones in the hospital. Our world seems like it is becoming a violent place. We should pray that we can have a month without any shooting.

Internet/Online Voting, Is it too risky? Will peoples votes be lost?

Is internet voting to dangerous? Will  peoples votes be lost? Internet voting can be unsafe. It is susceptible to hackers. But in other countries people are allowed to vote online, so why can't we? First of all Internet or Online voting is very risky a citizen's vote could be lost or changed by a hacker. This new type of fraud would be esy to track but hard to stop. Hackers are even able to hack into government websites. So will a citizen eligible to vote vote be safe  and counted fairly. Will this cause more people to vote? I think that is will make it easier for people to cheat, but it will make it easier for people to vote. Online voting is a good thing but we need stronger fire walls to be able to vote in the future. Who know maybe by the time we, teens are in our 20's we will have online voting.

Your Soda may be KILLING you! Certain sodas Might cause cancer

The caramel coloring in soda may cause cancer. Currently the FDA  is looking into it. The caramel coloring in certain sodas may be a carcinogen over the healthy limit. (Personally I think even a low amount should not be tolerated.) What do you think about this? A carcinogen is a cancer causing property. I vehemently doubt it should be tolerated in our food supply. Please comment on what you think.

Happy Martin Luther King Day!

Martin Luther King Jr. is renowned for his peaceful presence in the civil rights movement. He wanted to fight hate with love. One of his famous speeches is the "I have a dream" Speech. I love this speech. Martin Luther King was born January 15 1929 as Michael Luther King Jr., but later it was changed to Martin Luther king Jr. His father was a pastor and he admired that so he decided to become a pastor. He graduated from a segregated high school at 15. He began attending Morehouse college and He changed colleges twice and in 1955 He received his doctorates. King became a pastor in 1954 at Dexter Avenue baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. He began working to end segregation in the south. He was a member of the NAACP (Nation Associtaion Advanced of Colored People). When Rosa Parks was jailed for not moving from her seat, He helped spark the Montgomery Bus Boycott. About a year later the supreme court overturned the laws that made segregation possible. He was elected president of the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference). He was a great leader during the civil rights movement. He knew that you cannot fight hate with hate, but must fight hate with love. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
At the Age of 35 Martin Luther King was the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. He gave his prize money to furthering the civil rights movement. King was a great and loving person we must learn that as Christians we cannot fight hate with hate but must love everyone.

Matthew 5:39

39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.

Luke 6:27

27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,

Let Your Light Shine!

1 Timothy 4:12

New International Version (NIV)
12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

As teens we need to we need to be an example. Like this verse says just because you are young doesn't mean you can't do hard things. A lot of times society says you can't do that because you're a teen. It is like the world expects you to not do anything about the problems you see. I think as teens we need work for change in today's society. As doctor Martin Luther King said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
When we don't speak up, we might as well help the wrong doers. We need to let our light shine.

Matthew 5:16
New International Version (NIV)
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
We want to point all of our good deeds to GOD. God deserves all the glory. Remember to let your light shine as live your life and make a difference for GOD.

School Shooting at Berrendo Middle School in Roswell

Sadly in today's society frequent shooting have taken place. School shooting, movie theater shooting, navy yards shooting, and other shootings. It is sad how violent society has become. The shows and movies people watch are filled with violence. I have been beginning to wonder about all the recently occurring violence. It is terrible that there was a shooting at  Berrendo Middle School. Which is even more appalling is that the shooter was 12 years-old. We need to     Berrendo Middle School                                                  pray for the families of those injured by the shooter that God can bring them peace. We also need to pray that there would be no more needless bloodshed. That 2014 will be a different year without a lot of shootings.

Fatal Shooting at Florida Movie Theater

A man was fatal shot, because he was texting his 3-year-old daughter. An Argument occurred over the 43-year-old man texting with a 71-year-old. The 71-yearold brought at a gun and fatally shot them. This was during the previews before the movie even began. This is a shocking and appalling crime. It seems like shooting are becoming more and more frequent at movie theaters it almost feels as if they need to have medal detectors at the door. To keep people from bringing guns. In our world people are full of selfishness, and they don't have self-control. Maybe that is the cause of all

Strong Earth Quake in Puerto Rico

Let's get on our knees and pray for the earthquake victims in Puerto Rico. As Christians we need to pray for those around the world, especially in their time of need. The earthquake was a 6.5 earthquake. We need to pray that God can help them rebuild. We also need to pray that the relief efforts are successful.

Chris Christie's Big Scandal. Bumper to bumper

Chris Christie's Big scandal was a ship sinker for the Republican hopeful. Governor Christie said he was running for the presidency. I think his scandal will drag him down in rating. The American people want someone they can trust. We don't want a president who is know to keep secrets and lie. What was his scandal? He caused their to be a traffic jam. This was terrible. He and his fellow politicians helped him do this. Some ambulances got caught in this jam. Christie is apologizing for his wrong it might not be enough For the American people. What do you think

Multilingual Voting, Good for America?

Should we have multilingual voting, and do we even need it? Personally I think that multilingual voting makes it easier for people who are immigrants. If you have ever tried to learn a new language it is hard. The hardest part are the irregular verbs. A lot of people who have never tried to master a new language say that immigrants should just learn it. Well, it is no as easy as it sounds. Refugees and immigrants try to learn this language but truthfully we have to give them a break. I am not saying people shouldn't learn English by no means, but they should have multilingual voting so that those who do not know English well enough to vote can vote in their native tongue.

America's War on poverty Will it ever end? Four myths about the poor debunked.

America's war on poverty began when former President Johnson declared war on it. Late- Ex- President Johnson came from humble beginnings and had a first hand experience on poverty. Is the war on poverty an epic fail? No,  the war on poverty still helps struggling Americans. Many struggling Americans use the food stamps and Medicaid LBJ started. The war on poverty helps many impoverished citizens. I think we need to give the war on poverty another jump start so that it can help more than it is. The war on poverty needs to be revamped so we can end all poverty. But there are some myths about people on welfare They will now be debunked.
1. The poor are lazy.
The poor aren't lazy they may have suffered a job loss or they are working a minimum wage job that they can't support there family(because they lost a higher paying job.). A medical problem that kept them from working or hours or a pay cut at work.
2. The poor are on welfare for life.
The average time for someone to be on welfare is a year or two. Most people are not on welfare for their whole life welfare is a helping hand to those who come across hard times. Welfare is not an "entitlement". On a few amount of the poor are on welfare for life.
3. There are not that many poor Americans
15% of the American population is at or above the poverty level. And 40% of Americans are below the poverty line at some point in their life. 54% suffer a year st or around the poverty line.
4. The poor get a lot of money from welfare.
A family of four get about no more than about $1000 a month (not including food stamps) depending on income it is about $0- 800 in most states though.

A California girl dead or not? Should the parents decide?

... declared her brain dead, following a supposedly routine tonsillectomyHer mother does not think she is dead, because she responds to her mother voice. Her heart is beating on it's own but she needs a ventilator. The doctors say she is dead and they want to take her off of the ventilator. She is in this condition because of a tonsillectomy. She is now going to be moved from this facility to a different hospital. DO you think they should take her off the ventilator. Is she really dead? I think that her parents wishes should be kept. She should be kept alive. She might not be dead. We should pray for her family and that if she is not dead or if she is God can bring her back to normal.
